At OSCAR, Your Mission is Our Mission. OSCAR exists to support you and the mission that God has called you to.

With a wide range of resources to keep Christian individuals and charities from having to do it all themselves, OSCAR comes alongside each one in a variety of ways.

Hannah Mulvihill, Crew Support Coordinator, Mercy Ships UK

Rehab on Africa MercyMercy Ships UK really values the partnership it has with OSCAR says Hannah Mulvihill.

Over the past 10 years Hannah has been involved on and off with Mercy Ships UK. Serving as a nurse onboard twice, in Sierra Leone and Togo, she now works as a Crew Support Coordinator in the UK office. She ensures all the UK and Irish crew are supported practically, preparing them for life onboard and when they come home. Also Hannah assists crew with their fundraising and generally helping them to feel like a vital part of the Mercy Ships UK team.

Hannah first met OSCAR reps at New Wine in 2017 and then had further conversations with Mike Frith, OSCAR’s Director, discussing how she could prepare the Mercy Ships crew better for transition into the culture onboard the ship and how to come home well and healthily.

As Hannah explained, OSCAR has been a vital part of the orientation days for Mercy Ships crew. She comments “Mike brings with him a wealth of experience and information relevant to those who wiJuly 2019 Mercy Ships Pre-boarding Orientation Groupll be volunteering abroad. He helps the crew to think through the challenges they may encounter and how to deal with them well. This enables them to identify issues that may be stumbling blocks to living a healthy and productive life onboard the ship, how to love others well and how to serve God to the best of your ability in the situation you’re in. The very well thought-through sessions have been incredibly beneficial to the Mercy Ships crew and the feedback has been testament to that.” Hannah highlighted how Mike worked hard with her to create sessions that would work best for the crew and the outcome was perfect.

The services of OSCAR, in particular the training sessions available, come highly recommended by Hannah for any organisation that send missionaries or volunteers abroad. She says, “you will not be disappointed”.
