TEFL Course Online Tutor

Christian TEFL

Global English/Christian TEFL are looking for a TEFL tutor to work part-time, flexibly from home, marking online TEFL courses.

Christians with minimum 3 years’ teaching experience and appropriate TEFL/TESOL qualifications, including both native and non-native English speakers (with a high level of English) are welcome to apply.

About Global English TESOL and Christian TEFL

Global English TESOL was launched in 1997 and is now one of the oldest and most respected online TESOL course providers in the UK. Christian TEFL was established in 2012 to train Christians online to teach English as a Foreign Language and uses the same Global English courses with modifications for mission. Courses are externally accredited. As a registered charity, all Christian TEFL profits go towards established mission partners and we also promote TEFL mission vacancies worldwide. Due to expansion, we are looking for an extra TEFL course marker and grader. The successful applicant will mark and grade modules for both Christian TEFL and Global English TESOL.

About the role

After paid training, you will have assigned trainees who will submit their questions to your tutor area for marking. You will be provided with a mark scheme and marking guide, but there is a need for you to use your own experience in judging what is an effective answer and awarding marks and commenting accordingly.  Trainees may require assistance from you and will ordinarily get in touch via the messaging system and occasionally by phone.

The role is part-time and would suit a professional who wants to supplement an existing income. We are looking for a minimum initial commitment of 6-10 hours per week, but would like that to rise to 10-15 hours from 2020. There is a requirement to check your tutor area for student responses daily (Mon-Fri) but you can decide when to mark and return work, within an agreed and specified timeframe.

The work is offered under a self-employed services contract and applicants should be available to work year-round. The successful applicant may be based anywhere in the world with a good internet connection. A UK bank account is required to receive payment.

To help you decide if you think this might be a position you would be interested in and can commit to, we have summarised our requirements in the list below:

  • DELTA or Trinity Diploma.
  • Minimum 3 years’ face to face teaching experience.
  • Computer literate, with suitable pc/laptop with appropriate internet access.
  • UK sterling bank account for receiving payment.
  • Able to commit to an initial 6-10 hour p/week marking commitment.
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) and  an ability to empathise with new trainees to TESOL.
  • Christian.

  • Additional TEFL qualifications, such as specialist courses in Business, Young Learners, Phonetics and or Linguistics, ESOL and Online English teaching.
  • Wider range of nationalities taught in a variety of teaching settings, ESOL teaching, online teaching experience.
  • Social media aware (Facebook, Twitter etc).
  • Able to commit to a 10-15 hour marking commitment from 2020.
  • Good typing and proofreading capabilities for returned work.
  • Some familiarity or previous experience with Christian mission.
