Mission Team Leader

Highgate International Church, London

Mission Team Leader: We are currently looking for a person with a heart for growth in a local church that is committed to effective communication of the gospel of Jesus Christ with a blended ethos of missional living, community relationships and appropriate proclamation. We are looking for someone to join our mission team who has evident experience in church leadership and particularly with church planting or re-growth from a relatively small group. In terms of living and support, as a church we work on a shared-faith basis. We can offer an accommodation package for living in the area and would explore the idea of the person(s) linking with GLO or Counties as part of a mission and church revitalisation team. Each person’s financial circumstances are different, so we are open to discuss the support requirements of anyone interested in serving as team leader at HIC.

About Highgate International

We are a diverse church family in the heart of North London. Before becoming Highgate International, we were known as Cholmeley Evangelical and we have served Highgate and the surrounding areas for over 120 years. Like most churches, we have seen and experienced significant changes over the years but our commitment to Highgate and London is as strong as ever and recent developments have brought us to an exciting re-growth stage.

Highgate International Church (HIC) is at a re-growing stage – a new shape for a new era. At the same time GLO, in cooperation with Counties, Partnership and Church Growth Trust, are seeking to establish a resource base in London to help with revitalisation of local churches, mission in the city and planting new churches where appropriate. We believe the facilities and location of Highgate International Church are good for such a base, and we are looking for people with a heart for this kind of urban mission work. Our ethos of church includes a strong sense of being a community, a family, and that the ministry that goes on within and flows out from a local church is led and carried out by members with a heart to serve. We are looking for some key people to join the mission team leading the church and mission work at HIC, especially those with a church planting and regrowth experience. Other roles envisaged include a community outreach pastor and a building development manager, but what follows is specific to the Team Leader.

Our vision and values

Our vision is to rebuild a congregation that is deeply committed to following Jesus and to missions not only in Highgate but in and around London. We are a Church that is committed to being Bible taught, spirit led, worship centred, and a family transformed by God’s love for us. As such, we have partnered with networked missions’ organisations (GLO, Counties, Partnership and Church Growth Trust) in re-purposing our facilities into a resource base for the revitalising our congregation and other local churches in London.

About the role

The Mission Team Leader role is key to the re-growth strategy for Highgate International both spiritually and numerically, in line with the Lord’s directing. Together with the core leadership team, the eldership, trustees and mission partners, the post holder will be part of a team responsible for the implementation of and delivering on the vision to re-grow Highgate as a gospel centred church with strong community roots, upholding its evangelical values and ethos, and helping revitalise other local churches in London.

About you

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a heart for growing a local church and is committed to effective communication of the gospel of Jesus Christ through missional living and building/leveraging community relationships. You will need demonstrable experience in church leadership and particularly with church planting or re-growth. We are looking for an individual with a passion for the gospel and proven gifts that fit well with growing a Christian community in an urban environment.

How to apply

If you feel the Lord may be calling you to serve at Highgate and feel attracted to the above vision, please send through a CV with a supporting statement outlining how your experience and skills meet the criteria set out in the Job Description to office@hi-church.org. If however, you would appreciate an initial discussion then please feel free to contact Mark Davies on +44 750 395 3259 or mdavies@glo-europe.org

Closing Date: 10th April?

It is a genuine occupational requirement for the role holder to be a committed and active, Bible-believing evangelical Christian, and able to fully subscribe to the statement of faith of the church.

Please mention OSCAR when responding.
