Good Neighbours, Newcastle - Assumption Volunteer Programme

Volunteers commit to being "Good Neighbours" on a housing estate in Newcastle and form supportive relationships with residents of all ages and backgrounds through sharing the reality of daily life in after-school activities, holiday activities, parents and toddlers, community events, gardening, home decorating, producing the newsletter, drama club, supporting pensioners, local church events etc. 

We can place two residential volunteers each year. We want people who live life as a whole and can work flexibly as there may be activities planned on evenings or weekends. There are also opportunities for other areas of outreach eg asylum seekers, migrants etc. No specific educational qualifications are required, only openness, enthusiasm, a love of people and a willingness to use their talents in a variety of activities.

The project is ecumenical and supported by the local Anglican, Catholic and Baptist churches. We ask for one year's service. Start date flexible.
