ESL Teachers, South East Asia - TeachBeyond

The ESL centre is currently accepting letters of interest from qualified ESL/EAL teachers to teach pre-school, elementary, and university age courses.

The assignment is to teach classes 2-4 hours a day, 5 days a week (total of 20 contact hours weekly). An additional 1-2 hours per day is included for prep time. We provide training and established curriculum that can be used for your class. Classes are to be held in 12-14 week terms, allowing for time to travel or sightsee in between each term start. Class size varies from individual tutoring to 15 maximum.

We will accept a 6-month commitment, although the preference is for a 1-2 year committed professional. Teachers will be asked to sign an initial 6-month contract, which will then be reviewed and extended. After 3 months, if the intention of both parties is to commit to a 1 or 2-year contract, the centre will cover the work permit/visa cost. Job descriptions are available upon request.

These positions are partially salaried. They include room and board with a host family near the centre and a monthly stipend of 4,000,000 (approximately $200USD). The monthly stipend will be increased as the centre grows. The stipend will cover normal monthly expenses including local travel and sightseeing. The local cost of living is extremely low. If the teacher chooses to rent a local apartment, he/she will be responsible to cover the cost individually.

Teachers are required to cover their round trip airfare. Although local health insurance is provided for center staff, it is recommended that long term teachers obtain comprehensive international insurance (more information available upon request). It is recommended that candidates raise an additional $250/month.

The ESL Centre celebrated the grand opening in March of 2010. The Centre has grown and currently offers on site and off site classes, including local pre-schools and schools. The facilities are located in a newer, central district of the capital with access to shopping, open markets, restaurants, and universities. Taxis are relatively inexpensive and a motorbike can be purchased for approximately $500USD.
