Our 2009 survey was completed by 169 individuals and revealed the following results:

Who uses OSCAR?

  • 40% are based outside the UK
  • 33% are Christian or mission workers on the field
  • 8% are preparing for cross-cultural work
  • 15% are those who have returned from the field
  • 15% are frequent short-term mission workers or travellers
  • 27% are responsible for resourcing other mission workers
  • 40% are in a mission support role (with an organisation or church)
  • 28% are single
  • 13% are married without children
  • 59% are married with children
  • 4% are aged 16-25
  • 27% are aged 25-40
  • 50% are aged 40-60
  • 19% are aged 60+

Social Networking

  • 67% said they use social networking websites
  • 37% said they had looked at or participated in OSCARactive!
  • The biggest reason for joining OSCAR's social networking facilities was 'To network with other mission-minded people'
  • The biggest reason why others didn't get involved was 'Not enough time' closely followed by 'Just haven't got around to it yet'
  • 17% use other mission related social networking facilities

Thanks to all those who took part in this survey. Many individual comments and suggestions were made and we will be using these to improve our services.   • 35% are based outside the UK
  • 38% are Christian or mission workers on the field
  • 8% are preparing for cross-cultural work
  • 8% are those who have returned from the field
  • 14% are frequent short-term mission workers or travellers
  • 19% are responsible for resourcing other mission workers
  • 32% are in a mission support role (with an organisation or church)
  • 46% are single
  • 11% are married without children
  • 43% are married with children
  • 16% are aged 16-25
  • 30% are aged 25-40
  • 40% are aged 40-60
  • 14% are aged 60+

Social Networking

  • 58% said they use social networking websites
  • 86% thought that social networking offers a good additional facility for communicating with others involved or interested in mission
  • And the top reported social networking facility ... Facebook!

  • 26% are responsible for resourcing other mission workers
  • 40% are in a mission support role (with an organisation or church)
  • 28% are single
  • 12% are married without children
  • 60% are married with children

How did they hear about OSCAR?

  • 67% heard about OSCAR from OSCAR staff, a friend or colleague
  • 24% via a search engine or referal link from another website
  • 8% from publicity literature or events

What do they think of the new website?

  • 94% think the site is either good or excellent
  • 88% think the OSCAR Update is either good or excellent

  • 54% heard about OSCAR from OSCAR staff, a friend or colleague
  • 24% via a search engine or referal link from another website
  • 10% from publicity literature or events

What do they think of the new website?

  • 97% think the new site is either good or excellent
  • 96% think the site is easy or very easy to navigate
  • 100% were either satisfied or very satisfied with the visual design
  • 89% found the site either useful or very useful
