I am 47 and have worked in Christian Mission for 19 years. I worked in North Africa for 6 years both in church planting (friendship evangelism) and in mission mobilisation (leading groups of short term teams, inspiring them to get further involved). I also spent a number of years working in Leicester alongside a local church, again inspiring Christians to get involved with Muslim evangelism.
Since returning to the UK, I helped to organise several trips to North and West Africa, facilitating others to serve abroad. My last trip involved converting a Bedford Army truck into an expedition vehicle and organising and leading a trip around North and West Africa (including crossing the Sahara). I am computer literate, and have installed networks and VOIP telephone systems.
However (and I admit it is a big however !), during the end of my time working in Christian mission, I lost sight of the reason behind my work. I can go into a lot more detail for anyone considering me for a placement. The end result was that I got involved in sexual abuse. I admitted my offences and spent 27 months in prison. I addressed my offending both through prison courses and by confession and repentance before God. I started to rebuild my relationship with God whilst in prison and since my release 3 yrs ago. I am now an active member of my local church (who are aware of my past).
I am seeking a position either in the UK or abroad where I can use the giftings that God has given me which include basic Arabic and French. I am willing to work under any restrictions, as due to my past I am unable to work with children and have to sign the sex offenders register for the rest of my life.
