Summer Opportunities, Bosnia Herzegovina - Novi Most
Posted: 22/03/08; Expires: 30/09/08Novi Most International was born in the crisis of the 1992-95 Bosnian war,
bringing the love of Jesus to a nation where many atrocities were committed
in his name. Today, we are a Christian mission agency working with Bosnian
young people to help them overcome the effects of the past, equip them to
enter their futures with hope and confidence and empower them to become
agents of positive transformation in their communities.
This year you can choose to join us for one week, two weeks, or all summer
long! You can choose between Mostar and Klub Novi Most, or nearby Capljina
at the Novi Most Centar. Or you could help at one of our summer camps at the
beautiful inland campsite of Boracko Lake, (near Sarajevo).
You will help us run a fantastic summer programme which will vary, depending
on where and when you join us! It is likely to include whacky themed nights,
fun festivals, games and activities, days out to local beauty spots for
barbeques and crazy games, swimming in the amazing outdoor pool in Mostar,
sports (football, basketball or tennis), arts and crafts, karaoke nights,
and dance - breakdancing and hip hop go down a treat. You may help lead or
assist in short courses such as photography, dance, video-making, guitar,
drumming, computing and English, or even fishing, rocket-making or chess!
Most volunteer teams will also help with outreach to some of the most
destitute children and young people in the country. And you could also be
involved in an evangelistic event at the local church, or open air. In any
team you join, there will be all the general aspects of team life - setting
up, clearing away, prayer times, worship times, and planning times, all
within the supportive, safe and secure framework of the long term Novi Most
team. If you join the Klub camp, you will help plan the programme, which
will include character-building teaching with opportunities to consider the
Gospel, and a host of fun activities. The English camp will focus on a
project designed to improve spoken and written abilities, but there will be
lots of time for fun too!
