Water & Sanitation Coordinators, Africa & Asia - Medair

Main areas of activity can include (level of responsibility may vary according to position)

  • Survey and initiate water projects and write corresponding proposals and reports
  • Develop strategies and design programmes appropriate to needs, technology and sustainability
  • Implement, manage and control quality of WATSAN projects
  • Communicate/coordinate with beneficiaries, NGOs, local authorities and Medair staff
  • Lead, train and manage national WATSAN staff, including conducting regular courses on hygiene and sanitation
  • Organize repair and maintenance of wells and hand pumps with national staff
  • Monitor procurement and logistical management of WATSAN equipment and materials
  • Standardize processes for increased efficiency
  • Provide general logistical support when necessary

Specific requirements

  • Related technical or Engineering qualification
  • Degree (BSc or MSc) in Water, Wastewater, Solid Waste or Environmental Management, an advantage
  • Minimum 1 year post-graduate experience in a similar position
  • 6 months WATSAN work experience in a developing/newly industrialized country desirable
  • Good communicator, able to draft proposals and write reports
  • Project management training/skills » Staff management experience
  • Flexible team-player who adapts well to change » Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of French or Arabic an asset

Term:                               2 year contract (first year voluntary depending on experience)
