Main areas of activity can include
- Set up and manage Medair premises (office and team housing)
- Procure goods, services to ensure smooth running of project
- Responsible for transportation and storage of goods
- Establish and maintain local and international communications networks, including: landlines, satellite phones, internet, radios
- Manage the maintenance of team vehicles
- Survey and assess emergency needs
- Supervise the construction of temporary shelters
- Oversee the distribution of relief goods
- Set up and maintain emergency sanitation facilities
- Negotiate prices, salaries, contracts etc
- Represent Medair and sometimes negotiate on behalf of Medair to local authorities, the UN and other NGOs » Recruit and train national logistics staff
Specific requirements
- Minimum 1 year professional experience in a related position
- Flexible team-player who adapts well to change
- Pragmatic problem-solver and initiative-taker
- Excellent communication, negotiation and organizational skills
- Proficient in standard office software; more developed IT skills desirable
- Good report-writing skills
- Knowledge of French or Arabic an asset
Term: 2 year contract (first year voluntary depending on experience)
