`My Rights, My God' by Robin Wells

OSCAR Forum: Reviews : `My Rights, My God' by Robin Wells
By Julia Cameron (Julia) on Friday, January 31, 2003 - 03:03 pm:

Dear OSCAR surfers

I wanted to mention an unusual book for anyone thinking of mission. It is called MY RIGHTS? MY GOD? by Robin Wells (Monarch/OMF). It seems a funny title, but the point is that you have to . Do you want to 'claim your rights' to a comfortable life, or are you willing to serve God if he should call you into something different? As the author says, it may be into something 'far more satisfying'.

This book is a searching read, and it doesn't shrink from talking of suffering or the idea of sacrifice.

It has an audio CD with it including tracks from John Stott,George Verwer, Paul Borthwick and Patrick Johnstone.

The book covers a range of practical issues and is very readable. It also has a list of useful websites at the back.

This really is a most unusual resource and excellent for anyone considering the possibility of serving in mission. I've been recommending it to short-termers to help them see think of their trip as a real possibility for longer-term service.

If you're doing a seminar on mission, you could even use a couple of the CD tracks and have the benefit of John Stott, Paul Borthwick or a new missionary, right there with you. A great training tool.

UK price £6.99 (book/CD)
available from Christian bookshops or from Amazon.

Thanks for taking time to read this.
