OSCAR hosts a Mission Resource Stand and Jobs Board at various Christian events throughout the year.
Mission Resource Stand
We provide a mission resource stand for a number of mission and Christian events throughout the year, which includes New Wine in Shepton Mallet and a number of one day events across the UK. Rather than the usual stands which promote a single organisation or cause, the aim of this stand is to give advice and information on mission across the board, for all those interested or already involved in doing or supporting any kind of mission work in the UK or overseas.
The stand consists of:
- 24 mission resource sheets on various practical aspects of mission, designed to help enquirers, goers, senders and supporters (review these sheets here)
- Internet linked computers with access through the OSCAR website, to our online jobs database, plus all other good sources of mission information, including the websites of mission organisations, support services and mission-minded churches.
- A team of advisors who, between them, have a broad range of mission experience.

Jobs Board
For 2012 we are hosting a jobs board at the following major Christian events over the spring/summer:
- Big Church Day Out - 2 day event over Spring Bank Holiday weekend at Wiston House, West Sussex. Approx. 20,000 visitors (www.bigchurchdayout.com)
- New Wine ‘Marketplace’ – 3 different weeks at the beginning of the school summer holidays: 2 weeks in Shepton Mallet and 1 week in Newark. Approx. 27,000 delegates over all 3 weeks (www.new-wine.org)
- People Without Limits (Detling) ‘People’s Plaza’ – 5 day event in the summer holiday at Kent County Showground, near Maidstone. Approx. 5000 daily visitors (www.peoplewithoutlimits.org) *
The jobs board includes opportunities from a variety of organisations in the UK and abroad, some of whom have other representation at the events and some of them not (opportunities can include volunteers, trustees, reps, gap years, interns, students etc.)
To make this offer accessible to everyone and to provide a good spread of opportunities for the jobs board, we try to keep our costs as low as possible. Our charges for the job cards are very competitive compared to other events. There are further discounts for those who already advertise their opportunities through the OSCAR website. Prices per card are:
- Big Church Day Out: £20 (£15 for OSCAR advertisers)
- New Wine: £25 (£19 for OSCAR advertisers)
- People without Limits: £15 (£10 for OSCAR advertisers)
- All 3 above events: £50 (£40 for OSCAR advertisers)
